Rabies Surveillance

Florida Department of Health in Holmes County

It is required by Florida Statues Chapter 381 and Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64D-3 that all animal exposures from a suspected or known rabid animal are reported to the Florida Department of Health (DOH) in the county in which the incident occurred.

DOH investigates all reported potential human and pet rabies exposures to protect human health. If you have been bitten, scratched, or had any saliva contact from an animal that can carry rabies into a wound or mucous membrane, seek medical attention immediately.
